A FMIC upgrade is one of the best modifications for the 335i/xi, because not only does it yield an average of 25whp and 27wtq but it does so consistently. How you may ask? When you increase power with an ecu tune for example, you are increasing boost pressure and ultimately heat in the engine. When the ECU (DME) detects too much heat it will actually pull timing and limit the amount of power it the engine can produce in order to avoid damage to the engine. What an intercooler upgrade does for your car is keep the intake air temperature in the ecu's "safe zone" allowing it to maximize all the modifications you have on your car.

We tested our N54 powered 335i with all of our performance upgrades:

-3" Catless Downpipes
-N54 Charge Pipe w/TiAL bov
-And of course our 5" Stepped FMIC.

In addition, we were using the infamous Burger Motorsports JB4 to turn up the boost and manage the pertinents on our beloved N54. The results were impressive, a massive 408.8whp and 480.4wtq !




LOWER IAT's
How is that extra power made? The temperature of the charged air going into the engine, or IAT (Intake Air Temperature), is a key metric. This factor is so essential because the temperature of the air going to the engine can drastically alter the performance of the engine. The higher the IAT is the less power the car will make. In an independent test the oem intercooler reached a very high, power-robbing temperature of 151 degrees Fahrenheit. The same car equipped with the ARM 5" Stepped intercooler was able to keep its power up with a very cool 106 degrees Fahrenheit. That's an impressive 45 degrees cooler than the oem intercooler!



50% BIGGER THAN OEM
ARM Motorsports 335i/xi FMIC increases cooling efficiency and power on your N54 or N55 equipped 335i/xi by using a 5" stepped core which maximizes intercooler size to almost 50% BIGGER than OEM, without the need for irreversible cutting or trimming to your bumper. It retains all the OEM crash bars and bumper pads as well.



The 5" stepped core is constructed of a bar and plate design and will allow for consistent performance. It reduces heat-soak and minimizes the chance of your engine reducing boost and timing due to high IAT.

FIRST OF ITS KIND:

The ARM 5” FMIC is the first ever intercooler upgrade for the E90/E92 335i that has been engineered with CAD designed CNC aluminum connectors for you to utilize either the OEM intercooler hoses or the ARM FMIC Hose Upgrade. Opting to utilize the OEM connectors will make for a faster and fully reversible install. While upgrading your 335i to the massive ARM 3in. intercooler hoses, you will be giving your 335i maximum airflow by removing any restriction the OEM connections may have on the charged air.
